I started the day thinking I’d put out the typical 10 day reminder email for club ----- BUT lo and behold, the calendar tells me that club is THIS WEEK !! My sincere apologies for the late reminder. I don’t know where the last month went, but this Thursday is, indeed, the 3rd Thursday of the month…….(Sept 1 was on a Thursday ---- who noticed?)
Club day – Thursday September 15 – that’s THIS Thursday, folks!
5D Mini-Class – 12 noon and 4:30p
We’ll create a Christmas ornament with 5D Creator utilizing the appliqué feature. To follow along on your computer, you will need a Christmas design of a size that would compliment your tree. This will vary depending on the size of your tree. For a mini table top tree, a design as small as one inch would be good. For a full size tree… well, just how big do you like your ornaments? No hard rules here. Your only restrictions are your hoop sizes.
Viking Club – 1pm and 5:30p
· Bring your show and tell.
· Club project will be to finish the round purse from last month.
· If you are not working on the purse, you may want to use project time to stitch out your Christmas ornament we create in 5D Design Creator.
Christmas ornament supplies:
- Embroidery machine
- Christmas design – size your choice – you’ll be adding a border, so have some room in your hoop size of choice
- Bring the right sized hoop
- Embroidery thread for design and appliqué border
- Bobbins – you can use bobbin thread – some designs you will want to wind bobbin to match your top thread – so also bring some empty bobbins.
- Wash away stabilizer heavy enough for appliqué
- Tear away stabilizer
- Fabric for your ornament – ornament will have a front and a back – don’t pre-cut. Think appliqué.
- Quilt batting (optional)
- General sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, etc)
- Memory stick, floppy or cord to get your design from your computer to your machine.
Note: the appliqué ornament technique can be used with any design --- simple or mega complicated with 100 thread changes --- however, if you want to stitch out your ornament at club, choose a design that is simple with reasonable stitch count and color changes so you will have time to finish the ornament at club.
See you Thursday,
Trudy
